For many women, taking hormonal birth control is a part of everyday life. It’s often so ingrained in our routine that we don’t even think about the side effects or the impact on our overall health. But the reality is many women are tired of taking the pill and want to return to a natural cycle. Is time to stop living with artificial hormones in our bodies and dealing with the side effects.

Guud Ambassador Trix recently stopped taking the pill and her life has improved exponentially. “Since I stopped taking the pill last year, it’s been a massive relief,” she said. “I feel so much better. I feel a big change and see myself blossoming again into this really happy, self-confident, sexual girl again - the one that I was when I was 16!”

It’s a big decision to stop taking the pill. Withdrawal symptoms can hit some women really hard, but Trix says that she’s become a better version of herself since she stopped taking the pill. She’s happy, confident and even lost weight.

Many women suffer from a low libido when they take the pill because it alters the hormones that impact your sex drive. Trix noticed big changes when she stopped taking the pill and it’s even had a positive impact on her relationship. “My sex drive skyrocketed, which my boyfriend loved!”

“In general, I feel like I’m on Cloud 9,” says Trix. The change to her mood, confidence and libido has had a positive effect not only on her relationship, but in her career as well.

Of course, these positive changes take time for many women and in the immediate weeks and months when you stop taking the pill, negative symptoms can be rough. Many women experience things like headaches, mood swings and cramps. But be assured that the negative symptoms stop over time and the long term benefits are worth it even if the idea of quitting the pill is scary. (read more about the side effects of the pill here

What are the benefits of quitting the pill?

  • Increased sex drive (as Trix noticed). This is because your progesterone production starts up again
  • Less mood swings
  • More energy
  • Your natural hormone balance is back on track
