Cramps are the most common menstrual complaint. As many as two out of three women experience them. Sometimes they even affect your daily life. Every. Month. For some women, like Andrea, menstrual cramps are truly excruciating. Thanks to Guud Woman, Andrea discovered she could relieve her cramps without having to take painkillers every month.

Painkillers are a quick fix. Fine if you take them occasionally. But it's better to look at the cause, otherwise you'll keep reaching for those painkillers every month.

By making small changes to your lifestyle in combination with the right vitamins and minerals, you can alleviate certain complaints.

Andrea discovered this when she discovered Guud Woman. " I was suffering from severe cramps, but I prefer not to take painkillers," Andrea says. "Thanks to Guud Woman, I've learned a lot about the impact of my cycle on my health, and I no longer need to take painkillers every month."

What causes cramps?

Researchers believe the cramps are caused by prostaglandins. This substance is produced in the uterus and causes it to contract. These contractions feel like cramps. The more prostaglandin, the more pain you'll experience.

Most women expect cramps when they get their period. But they're not really part of it. Not these severe cramps, anyway. Andrea had taken the cramps for granted until she discovered there was something she could do about it. One solution lies in the mineral magnesium.

Magnesium is an important mineral that helps support your muscle function. And there's more: studies have shown that magnesium and vitamin B6 can alleviate menstrual cramps and PMS symptoms. You can find magnesium in dark chocolate, bananas, nuts and seeds, green leafy vegetables, and supplements. Make sure you choose supplements with easily absorbable magnesium, such as magnesium citrate and/or bisglycinate.

Once Andrea understood her cycle better, she discovered even more benefits. "I really didn't know your menstrual cycle could have such an effect on you. Guud Woman helped me understand how my cycle affects my body and what I can do to feel better."

Living according to your cycle

Another important way to combat cramps is to live according to your cycle. When you understand your cycle, you can make the most of it and go with the flow. You go with your body's flow.

This will help you reduce your symptoms and make the most of your power moments throughout the month. That's something Andrea discovered when she better understood her menstruation and incorporated Guud Woman into her daily routine:

During ovulation, you often feel more beautiful and have more energy. That 's why I schedule my meetings during this phase, shoot all the videos I need to make for work, exercise, and do other things that make me feel good.

The benefits of living according to your cycle:

  • You'll be more in tune with your body when you know what to expect
  • You will experience fewer menstrual complaints (PMS).
  • You feel better all month long.
  • You can adjust your workout schedule to your cycle. Do you have more energy? Then do a longer workout. Is your period coming up? Then you know you need to take it easier.
  • You eat exactly according to your body's needs. This way, you avoid hunger, cravings, fatigue, and feel better about yourself.
