You want to be a superhero: you work around the clock, and self-care is always at the bottom of the list. Many women prioritize their family, work, kids, or other important things. Maybe you do too. Or maybe you have a friend who always does. Today we're here to tell you to take a break every now and then! When was the last time you put yourself first?
Sharing your love with others is beautiful, but if self-care is low on your to-do list, it's time to change that NOW. Yes, dear guud woman, it's time to give some of that love to a very important person in your life: yourself!
In this blog, we'll give you helpful tips on how to get started with self-love and self-care right away. Because there's enough love for everyone, including you. ❤️
Signs You Need More Self-Care
Maybe you're feeling perfectly fine. You're busy, but you're coping. Maybe you simply don't have time for self-care (so what do you need to do to free up some time?). Before we go any further, it's important to consider these questions. Do you recognize yourself in them?
- Not sure which direction you want to take with your life?
- Are you trying your best at work and at home, but sometimes it just doesn't work out?
- Do you have trouble starting or finishing something?
- Are you always exhausted?
- Do you feel resentment or irritation toward some people in your life?
- Do you feel disconnected from the things you care about?
- Do you have little or no desire for sex?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, it might mean you need more self-care. Even if you don't, it's still important to do so. Everyone can benefit from self-care practices—after all, they're important for a healthy body and happy hormones. And of course, it's also nice to look well-groomed, feel good, and perform well.
Why self-care is important
If you're experiencing menstrual problems like PMS, bloating, acne, mood swings, or feeling constantly tired, your body might be trying to tell you something. It's possible that your current lifestyle is negatively impacting your body and your cycle.
Making a few changes to your lifestyle and adding some self-care rituals (not occasionally, but regularly!) can help maintain your energy, improve focus, and support your overall health.
Remember: self-care doesn't have to be the same every day. Because of our menstrual cycle, we don't feel the same every week of the month, so our self-care needs also change throughout the month.
Just as you can synchronize your cycle with different physical activities , it's a good idea to align your self-care with the different phases of your cycle.

Knowing this relieves the pressure to schedule everything, do it right, and check your calendar. You'll likely feel better too, because your self-care rituals will align with your unique needs each week.
We can't promise life-changing changes, but we're pretty sure you'll have more fun, get more organized, and feel less overwhelmed.
Sounds perfect, don't you think? Let's go:
Daily affirmations
If you're trying to move on quickly because "affirmations are for hippies and woke people," wait a moment. Don't judge it too quickly, and give it a chance.
Affirmations are positive statements you repeat in your head or out loud. They boost your self-esteem and self-confidence and can inspire you to take action to achieve your goals.
Yes. We know that affirmations are just words. But words can be powerful.
Finding an affirmation that works for you and saying it regularly can also help alleviate feelings of panic, stress, self-doubt, and anxiety.
If you say your affirmations regularly, you'll see firsthand how you can achieve better health by tapping into the power of your mind!
How do you choose an affirmation? That's up to you. But here are a few we like:
- I love myself the way I am now
- I am enough
- I deserve pleasure and enjoyment
- I choose to be kind to myself
- It's natural to love myself
- I am grateful to be the person I am
- I love every part of myself
- I appreciate all the things that make me unique
- I am good at many things
- Everything is possible in my life
Choose one from the list and repeat it a few times in your mind. If you feel doubt creeping in, repeat it again. Make it a habit to repeat your affirmation(s) every morning during an existing routine, such as brushing your teeth, putting on makeup, or making breakfast.
Self-care rituals
There are many self-care rituals you can incorporate into your life. The key is to find the ones that work for you . Self-care is sometimes seen as unnecessary and selfish, but the reality is that when you take time for yourself, you'll improve in every other aspect of your life.
It's also important to be kind to yourself during your period. The hormones might make you feel down and have less energy. Respect your own feelings during this phase of your cycle. Sometimes this might mean carrying on with your normal life, but other times you'll need to take it easy.
When you think of self-care, you might think of expensive back massages and long spa sessions you don't have time for. While this is a form of self-care, it's important to remember that taking time for yourself can take many forms and doesn't have to be so extensive. Here are a few ideas:
- Meditate – choose a short online meditation or use an app and listen to soothing sounds to relax. You can also simply take some time to breathe deeply.
- Get moving – take a walk in nature or hit the gym. Whatever you feel like!
- Decluttering – Choose a drawer or cupboard and tidy it up. This can give you a sense of control if your life feels chaotic. You can also organize your social media and unfollow any account that doesn't make you happy.
- Get creative – pursue a creative hobby like painting, drawing, or sculpting. You can also do something digital like taking photos, making a collage, designing a poster, or editing images.
- Write – whether it's a letter, a journal entry, a song, a poem, or a short story, just write something and see what comes out.
- Take a bath – grab a bath bomb or essential oils and enjoy a nice soak.
There are so many more options. The secret is to find what works for you and to feel what brings you joy. And remember: you don't have to do the same thing all the time. The way you take care of yourself can change based on your needs. It's not necessarily about what you do, it's about doing something regularly.
Set boundaries
Thinking about how to love yourself starts with self-care! The first step is setting boundaries for how you spend your time. Try to avoid time-wasting activities that don't bring you joy.
Of course, we all have to do annoying things from time to time, like cleaning the toilet or filing our taxes, but try to eliminate things from your daily life that you do constantly and that drain your energy.
Don't feel guilty about saying no. We know it's hard, especially when it comes to turning down invitations or social gatherings. But remember: saying no occasionally doesn't make you a bad person. It actually makes you smart! Protect yourself and your time.
