Have you noticed? One week you're feeling super hot and craving some steamy lovemaking, and the next, well, you're just not feeling it...
Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. Because when it comes to your sex drive, your hormones are important. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels change throughout the month, and so does your libido.
Just really 0.0 sense?
But what if your libido is so low that you don't feel like having an exciting night at all?
Trust us, you're not alone. Around 70 percent of women experience a decreased desire for sex at times. Stress and fatigue play a major role, but your hormones are the ones truly in charge. If you and your partner are aware of this, you can take advantage of it.
Your sex cycle in 4 phases
So, when do you feel most like it? Here's what our Pleasure & Love coach, Leen S., has to say about your libido and menstrual cycle:
Think of the 4 phases of your cycle as the 4 seasons:
It is spring during the follicular phase.
It's summer during your ovulation !
Get ready for fall during your premenstrual phase.
The days you bleed are winter.
And, also not unimportant: Did you know that you can also view your orgasms this way?
As spring approaches, the excitement and pleasure builds…until summer arrives and you're ready to go and everything blossoms and flows and explodes.
Autumn is the time to reminisce. Your body is still open and your emotions flow freely. Then it's time for winter ( sleep): You recharge and rest.
Each season, whether we are talking about your female cycle or your orgasm, has its own specific and special characteristics that you can feel and experience if you embrace them.
There is no right or wrong, and no ranking – summer is not better than winter, just different.
Uhm… am I supposed to enjoy the bleeding then?
And is it okay not to feel sensual and sexual?
YES, YES, YES, woman! Embrace yourself as a cyclical woman, and give your body the stillness and rest it needs.
Some women do everything they can to make winter pass as quickly as possible, while this moment to pause, feel, and relax is so important. This way, you can welcome spring with all your energy and enjoy the anticipation.
And often, with haste, you achieve the exact opposite effect: You're stuck in winter, and everything goes wrong. Think you're stuck in a season? Here are a few signs...
- If you can't finish, you're stuck in spring.
- If you always finish and view sex as a marathon, with the goal of reaching the finish line, then you're stuck in summer.
- If you don't let the emotions flow after the orgasm, such as crying – which is healthy and very normal – then you will skip the fall.
Oh, and by the way, did you know you can experience all four cycles in one enjoyable lovemaking session? Yes, baby , that's what happens when you have multiple orgasms in a row. And you can do it too, if you want to.

Your libido shopping list...
🍫 Dark chocolate
Hmm... the ultimate aphrodisiac. Cacao is packed with magnesium, iron, and flavonoids. These minerals and antioxidants promote good blood flow to your genitals. Ooh la la! With good blood flow, you'll get aroused faster and reach your orgasm faster.
Dark chocolate also increases dopamine in the brain. And that makes you happy. Choose chocolate with at least 70% cocoa – M&Ms unfortunately don't do the trick.
🍍 Pineapple
Eating fresh pineapple is said to sweeten your bodily fluids, including down there. If you're in the mood for some elaborate foreplay, you know what to put on your dessert menu! Don't like pineapple? Try it with mango, banana, or dates.
🍷 Red wine
If you're going for a romantic dinner, choose red wine instead of a cocktail or beer. Red wine is rich in flavonoids, an antioxidant also found in nuts, vegetables, and fruit.
And while it's tempting to down a whole bottle together, one or two glasses is perfect. This will help keep your hormones balanced and prevent a hangover.
✨ Ginger
Ginger isn't just good for your circulation, it also has a warming and stimulating effect... Ideal for a wonderful lovemaking session! Enjoy a cup of ginger tea after dinner, and top it off with a piece of dark chocolate ;-)
